Garota / Garoupa By André de Almeida (in production)

The sea is vertical and humanity struggles not to revert to the form of aquatic animals. A girl and an old man fish for grouper. Each fish carries with it the identity of a particular person; eating it means maintaining human form and spirit. The old man has not yet managed to catch his grouper, and is beginning to be more fish than man. This is a fable about identity and the act of caring. A comic and tragic story that asks: isn’t the greatest sacrifice the refusal of the sacrifice made for us?
